Love's Labour's Lost by William Shakespeare is one of his early comedies performed at the Inns of Court before Queen Elizabeth I. Some scholars argue over the question “when was Love's Labour's Lost written”. So, according to sources it appeared more likely in the mid-1590s and published in a quarto edition in 1598.
Where does Love's Labour's Lost take place? The action takes place in France and it is about the King of Navarre and his three companions that decided to renounce the company of women for three years dedicating themselves to studying and fasting. Their fascination towards the Princess of France and her ladies breaks their pledge making them forsworn.

The comedy is characterized by untraditional ending as it closes with the death of the Princess's father, and this fact delays all weddings for a year. When does Love's Labour's Lost take place? There are five acts and nine scenes in the comedy.
The play has been staged in the 20th and 21st centuries rather than in the 19th century. Among others it was produced by both the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. Love's Labour's Lost has also been adapted for radio and television, as a musical, an opera and as a musical film.
